The Galway Camera Club aims to be the friendly focus for photography in Galway.
Founded over forty years ago, the Club is an affiliate of the Irish Photographic Federation and is
currently one of the largest clubs in the country with circa 100 members annually. Membership is drawn from all walks of life and ranges from complete beginners to full-time professional photographers.
The aims of the Club are to promote a greater appreciation of the art of photography and to enable members to improve their photographic skills through the sharing of techniques and education and by participation in competition both within the Club and nationally in competitions organised by the I.P.F.
The Club meets each Thursday evening from 8.00 to 10.00 p.m. in the White Room, Cluain Mhuire (GMIT), Monivea Rd., Galway during the club season which runs in line with college terms from September to May with an extended break over the Christmas period. In addition, classes are provided to all members from 7.00
to 8.00 p.m. each Thursday prior to the general club meeting.
